It’s that time of the year again where baseballs brightest stars just finished gathering in one city to put on a big show. The all-star break is finally over and races will start getting hot and pretenders get caught.
The Los Angeles Dodgers who trailed the rival San Francisco Giants by nine and a half games now hold a full game lead in the Wild-Wild West and hold the best record in the National League. The Dodgers push has been spearheaded by their young Ace’s and All-Stars Clayton Kershaw, Zack Greinke and the entire Dodgers starting pitching staff. They have thrown two no hitters one by Josh Beckett vs the Philadelphia Phillies and the other by Kershaw vs the Colorado Rockies.
They tallied multiple one hit games and shut outs giving the Dodgers offense, which was off to a slow start, every chance to win every baseball game. Dodgers had two other players named to their first all-star game as well as their aces and that being Yasiel Puig and Dee Gordon. Both young players have had an exciting first half of the season. Puig has made a number of amazing catches in the outfield as well as crushed the ball at the plate. The big guy batted .309 with 52 RBI’s and adding 12 home runs only trailing Adrian Gonzalez on the Dodgers who had 60 RBI’s and 14 home runs in the first half.
Gordon has been playing excellent defense at second base considering in the past he was a short stop. Not only with good glove play but he has also batted .292 with 25 RBI’s and stolen 43 bases. He is also batting over .300 with runners in scoring position and leads the National League in Triples with 9. It was a decent first half for the Los Angeles Dodgers who will look to defend their national league west title in the second half.
