A’s Starting to Make Noise This Offseason

Rajai Davis

The Oakland Athletics are starting to make some noise this offseason. They inked outfielder Rajai Davis to a one-year, $6 million deal. Davis will also get $100k for reaching 500 plate appearances, $150k for 550, and $200 for reaching 600 plate appearances.

Davis is returning to the Athletics where he spent three seasons from 2008 to 2010. He’s coming off a season where he hit .249 with 12 homers and 43 stolen bases for the Cleveland Indians. In a counter move, the A’s designated infielder Max Muncy for assignment to make room for Davis.

Mark Trumbo

The A’s have also been making it known that they’re interested in slugger Mark Trumbo. They’ve even reached out to Trumbo. However, there’s nothing at the moment that suggests they’ll be major players in his pursuit. ¬†They could be waiting in the wings if Trumbo doesn’t land the kind of deal he’s looking for, he can then fallback on the A’s for a shorter contract length. Trumbo is coming off a season where he hit .256 with 47 homers and 108 RBI for the Baltimore Orioles.
